DAS Keyboard - time to man up
So we type a lot over here at LT. A Whole lot. And some of us are pretty particular about our keyboards, specifically highly-tactile clicky keyboards. So it pained me greatly last week when my well aged Model M clicky keyboard finally had the 7 key fail. Nothing I could do would recover it. (The NumLock had failed some time ago, but I had pressed on. You do what you can...)
But when you keep a spare 7 and & symbol on an open notepad across all desktops for ready copy-paste, that's a sign it's time for a change.
After a small amount of hemming and hawing I decided it was time to go all in. I'm typically on the keyboard 9 hours a day. Why not get the best money can buy? I man'd up and bought the DAS Keyboard Model S Ultimate.
After almost a full week of use I have to say, wow am I impressed. The keyboard itself is a work of art (especially without those pesky key-labels), the construction strong and solid (no more deflection while typing) and the feedback while typing is the best I have felt. Hands down.
Even better, many of the letter transpositions I used to run into while typing rapidly with my old keyboard have suddenly disappeared. Must be that n-key rollover at work!
Of course all of my geek-inclined friends simply Had to see this masterpiece. Three days later another DAS was on order - a friend leaving for three years of graduate work in Korea decided if was going to type up a dissertation, it might as well be on the best keyboard available.
To the rest of you: who's up next?
